Yesterday was a full day of classes and an excursion. Students carried out the setting up of an experiment in science, a project their host brothers and sisters will finish over the next week. Immersion Spanish classes with a variety of teachers have given them exposure to an incredible variety of accents including those of Cuba, Spain and Costa Rica.
After school, one of the PAS high school social studies teachers was our guide for a tour of the Museo National, the outdoor market and the Teatro Nacional. Both the theater and the museum are beautiful works of architecture in their own unique and fascinating ways. Trinkets, souvenirs and snacks were had at the market where vendors from all over the world sell their wares. Students explored the market with their host brothers and sisters, practicing their Spanish and learning to "regatear" or haggle over prices! |
