This was a fascinating new destination for us. We made tortillas by hand, milked cows and picked strawberries. There is much work to be done at a lechería. Kudos to Sadie and Ellie for their enthusiastic participation en español. What an itinerary! Friday was a big day and with little bandwidth at our hotel posting had to wait until today. Kudos to Sienna as well as Craig and JV for sticking with their buddies y practicando su español. We had the first ever (mine, too) delegation visit to the national stadium. What a thrill. Many did a lap around the field. A tour of San José included museums, lunch and the national theater, one of the gems of the capital. An evening at the famous Ram Luna restaurant overlooking the entire "volcanic depression" (I'm told it's Not a valley) included a early birthday dance and song for Craig's 13th! What an amazing and relaxing day at the beach. After a relatively short drive west, we found ourselves in the beautiful resort of Punta Leona. This gorgeous macaw spent the morning in the tree overhead as chaperones watched kids frolic in the water and explore the reef. We had gorgeous weather and perfect temps. Lunch at the grand buffet was topped only by a stop at Pops famous Costa Rican ice cream shop. A girls v. boys volleyball game brought out some fierce competitive spirit before we left the pool area for home. Costa Rican parents were glad to find us at a meet up spot to scoop up the buddies and head for "la casa." As Mr. Harvey would say, "Great day!" What do you get when you mix dry ice and Mark Day School 7th and 8th graders with a giant barrel of water?Best Pan-American science class ever? Find your way to the lab and you just might get…"mojado." Kudos to Molly and Olivia today for staying in the target language with Spanish and Science teachers, Profe Marcela and Profe Kenny! This is just one of many, many videos. |
